Praha 1 - Malá Strana, Museum of the Infant Jesus of Prague Back

Cloister Church

Information

Dressing the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague in a colour of the current liturgical period is an ancient tradition. The statuette has currently over 300 garments donated by believers from around the world as a token of gratitude.
In the museum you can see selected historical textiles and clothes donated by believers from different countries (e.g. Korea, Mexico). There are for example dresses by Emperor Ferdinand II, writer Paolo Coelho and a crown donated by Pope Benedict XVI during his visit in 2009. On the staircase to the museum, you can see artistic photographs of the statue in its actual size in dresses of various liturgical colours. The exposition of nativity scenes from various parts of the world is also interesting.
