Information
Svatý Antonínek (Saint Anthony) is a famous pilgrimage site of Moravian Slovakia cultural region. It is situated on a hill between two villages – Blatnice pod Svatým Antonínkem and Ostrožská Lhota. It is about 14 km south of Uherské Hradiště, at the boarder of South Moravian Region and Zlín Region.
This holy place is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. It consists of the Chapel of Saint Anthony, outdoor Stations of the Cross and an outdoor place for liturgy. Since 1668 the hill is visited by tens of thousands of pilgrims a year. They pray to Saint Anthony for help in their urgent needs.
The chapel is opened daily (from 10:00 to 17:00 in summer, from 11:00 to 15:00 in winter). There are willing guides inside, who can tell you many interesting facts about the history of the chapel and about Fr. Antonín Šuránek, a candidate for beatification.
You can reach the chapel on the hill by car or by bus. If you want to use regular bus connection, go to Blatnice pod Svatým Antonínem and then walk about 2 km up to Svatý Antonínek. The way is very pleasant, surrounded by wine cellars, vineyards and a linden alley.
